Ontario Government Reinstates Old Formula for Public Holiday Pay

On May 7, 2018 the Ontario government made a new regulation that reinstates the previous formula for calculating public holiday pay that was in effect prior to January 1, 2018. Employers will use the Bill 148 method of calculating public holiday pay from January 1, 2018 to June 30, 2018.  The change will take effect on July 1, 2018 and applies to most employees covered by the Employment Standards Act.
